Samsung Will Carry out Large-Scale 5G Trials in New Delhi

Samsung is all set to test 5G in India. In the first quarter of 2019, the South Korean company will start conducting trials on 5G in New Delhi with the help of the Department of Telecommunications.

According to Srinivasan Sundararajan, Samsung India Senior Vice President and Head (Network Business), currently, the company is engaged with the Department of Telecommunications. The company intends to start the trial as early as possible in the first quarter of 2019. The company will work with a different partner on used cases. The trial cannot be completed in two days and the company will complete it over a period of time.

Apart from the consumers, the 5G technology has many used cases in various sectors such as surveillance, smart cities, healthcare, and agriculture.

Already, the company is engaged with different Korean and American telecom for setting up 5G. The new age technology has the capacity to change the networking in India. Furthermore, Samsung is the telecom gear provider for Reliance Jio’s pan-India 4G network.

“The network was built for 5G as it is a complete IP-network which makes it “much easier to adapt” to new technology that comes in with just “software upgrades”,” said Srinivasan Sundararajan, Samsung India Senior Vice President and Head (Network Business) on Jio’s network up gradation to 5G.
