According to reports, in 2018, the data traffic among consumers in India grew by 109%. The maximum data was consumed by 4G users.
The average data usage among users grew by 69% in 2018 and in the last month of the year, the figures touched 10GB per user. The rise of 4G has come at a cost where the 3G network witnessed a marginal decline last year. By the last year’s end, the 4G users grew by five times more than the 3G users.
Due to the cheap data rates for 4G subscribers along with budget-friendly 4G devices led to an increase in the number of 4G users by 137%. Furthermore, users are consuming more 4G data in India because of the widespread migration of users from 3G to 4G devices within a jiffy.
There are many people who are experiencing broadband in smartphones for the first time and have become very aware of the blissful opportunities of broadband in India. The rapid increase in 4G traffic among the small cities and towns in 2018 was because media and streaming apps became popular.
Moreover, the growth will be backed by telecommunication companies who will expand their 4G network in order to improve the coverage and deliver a good network to the consumers.
The deployment of a 5G network will depend upon the expansion rate of 4G networks by the service providers.
