Reports: Reliance Jio to Launch Giga Fiber Soon

Reports: Reliance Jio to Launch Giga Fiber Soon

Reliance Jio’s Giga Fiber will be launched in every part of the country very soon. Few consumers have already used the service in cities like Mumbai and New Delhi. The company has also launched free trail services for it.

According to reports, the company is planning to roll out the service in this year’s March.  The service was announced in 2018 at the company’s AGM. It is Jio’s first ever FTTH (Fibre-To-Home) broadband service targets to connect almost 50M homes in India.

Once the Jio GigaFiber services will be launched throughout the nation, to avail the service users will be provided with asetup package which will include a router and set-top box. The router can be used for streaming the internet on multiple devices at a speed of 1Gbps/second and the set-top box is meant for streaming TV services.

The new connectivity aims to provide wall-to-wall FTTH service for phones, TV’s, PC and other electronic devices. The internet speed of wall-to-wall FTTH service will not slow down despite the obstruction caused by the walls. During the first phase of its launch, the service is expected to reach 1100 cities.

“Jio GigaFiber will be the largest greenfield fixed-line broadband rollout anywhere in the world, with rollout happening in 1,100 cities of India simultaneously,” quoted Mukesh Ambani, Chairperson of Reliance Jio.

The company has selected few places before rolling out the services commercially. For-example, the company has chosen areas with high risen buildings in the Delhi-NCR region and deploying the technology in Noida, Gurgaon, and Ghaziabad.
