India is currently emerging as a critical player for public cloud-based services in Asia. The Indian Cloud market has seen a tremendous rise, and it is dominated by web scale players like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). India's public cloud infrastructure has developed new regional data centers owned by these web scale players. The cloud infrastructure is distributed to network-neutral data centers owned by telecom providers.
Telecom operators have an excellent opportunity to put their strengths to work by monetizing quality of experience in 'connect platforms' through Network Slicing, coupled with new consumption and charging models. This will enable a matrix of API driven platform slices to meet a few different application requirements and a target quality of experience.
Telecom operators in India have also started their network centers and telco cloud. This effort by the telecom operators will support the internal network function virtualization (NFV) initiatives. This will provide huge opportunities to telecom operators in India to furnish cloud services with fewer prices and increase the number of data centers in and across the country with developed infrastructure.
