India is all set to launch 5G next year. The country is anticipating that this technology will help in advancing the Digital India vision and promote sectors like health and agriculture. It is predicted that the 5G would go on to create an economic impact of $1 trillion by 2035. The lower level of investment in physical infrastructure will help India to attain higher value in 5G when compared to advanced countries. The capabilities of 5G can be used in robotics for precision manufacturing. This tech can contribute to agriculture by making drastic changes in value-chain, smart irrigation, improved crop monitoring, and precision farming. 5G will revolutionize the healthcare sector by providing more effective wireless monitoring, improved tele-medicine delivery, and better control over tele-controlled surgical robot
Various factors must be considered before deploying 5G in early stages due to expensive cost of equipment to avoid increasing the risk of acquiring glitch materials. On the flipside, if the tech is not adopted early then the country might not be able to tap the potential benefits of 5G. A decision in regards to allowing Huawei and China’s ZTE rollout is still pending but the High Level Forum has made the decision to deploy 5G in 2020.
