For Research in AI, Swedish Telecom Giant Ericsson Opens Global Facility in Bangalore

Swedish telecommunication company, Ericsson has made a setup announcement on Thursday. The company established a new global AI accelerator in Bangalore. The move by Ericsson will help them to carry out R&D in the field of automation and AI.

As per Ericsson, the new facility will speed up the company’s execution strategy by leveraging AI and automation. After that, the company can develop systems which are robust, data-driven, and intelligent for growth, evolution,and automation.

The new facility will offer 150 new jobs for ML and AI architects, engineers, data scientists and software developers next year. Other than that, the facility will act as a central unit in boosting the company’s projects in 4 different area and customer projects in 5 market areas.

According to Sanjeev Tyagi, Ericsson’s R&D head in Bangalore, the accelerator in Bangalore is a testimony to the commitment towards the country, rich talent and the vibrant ecosystem in India.

With the advent of IoT and 5G technology, the company foresees effective ways towards the use of networks. Traditional methods of running and managing of networks will no longer scale because of the new technologies.

In order to bolster innovation, the company will explore partnerships with different start-ups, academia, service providers and industry stakeholders.

From all around the world, the company will hire 300 data engineers and scientists, AI architects and software developers in the three accelerators.
