Bharti Airtel Ltd. is planning to increase the costs of its mobile services in the next six months. The company's chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal has stated that the data at low rates are not sustainable for the telecom industry. Airtel reported that an increase in the ARPU to Rs 157 in the first quarter ended on June 30, 2020. The rise in the ARPU came after the tariff hike was imposed in December 2019.
"We need a Rs 300 ARPU where you will still have a lower end at Rs 100 a month with a decent amount of data. But suppose your consumption is largely around watching TV, movies, entertainment, and depriving other vital special services networks. In that case, you need to pay for that," Bharti Airtel Ltd. chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal stated.
