5G Smartphones will be launched in India By 2019

Smartphones which support 5G network will be launched in India by 2019 and by late 2020, smartphones for lowersegments price chain will be available. By January next year, telecom operators will start field trials. Smartphone makers like Samsung, Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, and Xiaomi have announced their 5G smartphone launch plans.

According to Navkendar Singh, associate research director, IDC India, the Smartphones which will be rolled out worldwide, will be powered by 5G as well as 4G. So, in India, SKUs (semi-knocked down units), at least in the flagship segments will have a 5G network. From late 2019 or early 2020, 80 percent of the mass segments will have 5G capable devices.

The US has already launched commercial 5G in some cities, and in early 2019, 5G will be available to everybody. Other countries such as China, Japan, South Korea, and few European countries will launch commercial 5G by early2019.

India will carry out 5G field trails at a large scale. The spectrum auction will take place in the second half of 2019, to roll out commercial 5G by 2020. The Indian government is working hard to keep the timeline for the 5G technology, which could have an economic impact of more than $1 trillion in the nation.

Reliance Jio, which has provided a 4G network for the people, will also roll out 5G by next year and by 2012, the company will sell affordable devices for mass adoption of the service.
