Ordering food can be hectic sometimes: the food might be lately received or the waiter might bring in the wrong dishes. With adequate developers, designer and a robotic expert, RoboWaiter’s team has came up with an innovative idea at NY hackathon in building a ‘faster, better, smarter’ waiter to serve people.
Developer Nina Yang said that the team came up with the innovative idea when they realized that orders are not obtained at the right team, and customers are left starving for a longer duration. Mostly the waiters or waitresses are humans and we all know humans are to err; but robots won’t comply with such mistakes.
RoboWaiter is encrypted with IBM Watson, which hooks up to a backend ordering platform that can make a robot to bring customer’s ordered food. And it’s simple as an app, customers can download it from the store, scan which seat they want and place the order by voicing it in the mic displayed on the screen, and the system can send that order back to the restaurant’s kitchen. A chef then places the order on the robot and the robot shall bring the food to the customers.
And while you have question like why are they trying to snatch jobs of waiter, thus lessening human work profile in America? The team has answer to that too, Sharon Gai, a member from the team said: “We’re going to make America great again by gibing robots jobs.”
Surely, man has been diminished from work because of technology and AI, and now robots?
