The Indian Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) has now opened a new laboratory in Bengaluru to incubate early-stage startups. This will be focusing on chip designing for small-medium enterprises (SMEs) to access funds and enter the market.
This lab is developed to incubate around 20 early stage fabless startups for the next three years. Further, for the next five years after that will be focusing on 50 early stages fabless for chip designing and creating jobs in the electronics system design - manufacturing (ESDM) sector. The president of IESA, Rajesh Ram Mishra confirms this news. Also an investment of Rs. 21.5 crore is made on the labs by the Karnataka Minister for Large & Medium Industries, K.J. George. Not to mention in the unveiling an extra Rs. 56 crores was said to be put in on the five years plan.
The vision is clear, to make Karnataka the hub for the next gen of Indian fabless startups. This is initiated to bring establish growth and improve today’s tech in the country. ESDM is also said to be propelled with IESA to support innovative domestic companies. For setting up the lab around 800 engineers are required and this shows that there is room for employment.
