Facebook’s New Feature “Watch Party” Is Global Now

Facebook’s New Feature “Watch Party” Is Global Now

In January this year, Facebook launched the ‘’Watch Party” feature, an experimental tool which allows members of Facebook groups to watch videos together. The feature was available to a limited number of people but recently, the social media giant rolled out globally for every user.

The new feature works with both live and pre-recorded videos and using “Watch Party” is very simple. Once the feature is updated to every individual user's account, they can make use of the feature in a group where he/she want to watch a video. In the beginning, the user must type a caption for the video to gather more people to join them on the video and click add video button.

From the platform, people will be able to search different videos. They can re-watch a viewed video, go through a saved video, or choose from a suggested video that Facebook will select. At the same time, users can queue up a bunch of videos.

The streaming of the video will start after few people join it, with hosts granted the ability to scrub back and forth in a video's timeline. Users can also add more videos during the playback.

There are two new features in ‘’Watch Party” – one, viewers can suggest videos on the hosts feed and secondly, there will be multiple co-hosts for each “Watch Party”, who will be responsible for adding new videos to the queue.

Facebook is already in the process of rolling out the new feature to different Facebook groups. The process is also being tested for pages as well.
