Election Commission of India Introduces app for Poll Observers

A new mobile has been introduced for the Election Commission of India for the first time, the Hindu reported. The app is designed for poll observers where they could submit reports fast.

On Thursday, the electoral body had a meeting with many officials like IPS, IAS, and IRS and a few others from the central services. These officials will be allotted as observers in the upcoming Lok Sabha and State Assembly polls.

The commission stated that the officials are hired as police, general and expenditure observers. The app will help them to stay updated about any latest alerts, notifications,and messages. The app will also help the officials to know their deployment status, update and downloads their ID card.

There is another mobile app called “cVIGIL”, which will help the officials to receive real-time disposal of Model Code of Conduct and expenditure violation cases. The information will be available inside the observer app itself. Once the flying squad investigates any matter, the observers can convey a written observation.

Ashok Lavasa, Election Commissioner stated that “cVIGIL” had assisted to empower every citizen. The commission could also monitor Model Code violations with the help of alert officials on the ground.

Sunil Arora, the Chief Election Commissioner said, the observers need to ensure that nothing should go wrong during the election process.

The new app shall make things a bit easier for the observers during the elections. The development also marks progress for the Election Commission.
