India’s Union ministry has launched a pair of new science communication platforms on January 15. The new platforms are-India Science and DD Science.
According to the secretary of the department of science and technology, the new channels are specifically designed to cater science to the common people. There is a significant change in the development of science and technology across different scientific institutions in the country. The development need to reach the common people. India Science online channel and the DD Science programme would help to carry out the tasks.
DD Science is handled by Vigyan Prasar. The department of science and technology Doordarshan operates the independent body. DD science will run for an hour in Doordarshan and will be telecasted between 5-6PM. While, the online channel India science can be streamed by the users on all internet-enabled devices. It delivers live, video-on-demand science programmes during the scheduled time.
Both the channels will showcase science-based- documentaries, interviews, short movies, discussions, virtual walkthroughs of scientific institutions and the users can stream free of cost. The new initiative will definitely develop a national science channel for India.
The ministry of Union said that, with a country of population 1.3 billion, creating scientific temperament is a serious requirement and the new channels will boost the internet as well as the DTH service. It will make the people understand about science and integrate it into their lives.
