Farmers Fresh Zone Pvt Ltd (FarmersFZ), agritech from Kochi has made an announcement on Wednesday that it has raised funding from Indian Angel Network(IAN) and its maiden VC. The seed round funding is led by Nagaraja Prakasam and PK Gopalakrishnan along with Malabar Angels and Native Lead.
The amount of funding has not been disclosed. Once the funding round is completed, the agritech startup will strengthen its leadership in the highly competitive market, boost its market in every part of India and bolster customer acquisition.
The board of seat will be led by Nagaraja Prakasam, a veteran IAN investor. FarmersFZ was founded by Pradeep PS, an entrepreneur in 2015. The company is a multichannel platform which connects farmers from the rural area and urban customers. The main target of the company is to provide healthy, premium quality, and pesticide-free vegetables and fruits directly from the field to the consumers.
At present, the company has created a bridge between 10,000 customers and 350 profitable farmers. In the next four years, the company aims to boost the scalability of its business and expand to 7 more cities in India. If it works, then it will connect 20 lakh customers and 25,000 farmers.
India ranks second after China in producing fruits and vegetables worldwide, and the Indian market produces about 300-million tonnes of fruits and vegetables which is worth over Rs.4 lakh crore.
