SAP is building its new campus in Bengaluru with the motive to essentially expand its R&D presence in the city. The campus will be established on a 40-acre area that is almost double the size of its other campus in Whitefield, and the construction will soon begin after getting the government approval. Bernd Leukert, the company’s executive board member, is assigned the charge of products and innovation.
Bernd says that it’s a testimonial to the great talent and abilities here, and the extent to which people here have contributed to the overall success of SAP. India is SAP’s second largest R&D centre in the world with 11,000 employees. The new campus will probably reinforce India’s role in expanding SAP’s research and development.Berned also mentioned that India lays the groundwork for immense growth opportunities and that is the reason behind investing in land double the size of what they already have.
DilipKhandelwal, Managing Director of SAP Labs India, commenting on the hiring process, said that unlike the earlier times where the company only focused on lateral hiring, it has now shifted its attention to hiring at least 50% of its employees from college campuses. This ensures that the company gets a diverse workforce consisting of both experienced and young employees with more agility and knowledge on new technology. With this, the company will have the capability to design full products for industries. Today, India has become a strategic location and no SAP product goes without an India footprint.
