The firm which has its roots in nylon and polyester business is aiming to make ‘sustainable clothing’ accessible as well as affordable.

The firm will be the first of its kind to manufacture apparel from recycled plastic and polymer. “For us, sustainability is not a fashionable word, we are making fashion out of it and it is a sustainable business, It is time we look at sustainability beyond corporate social responsibility,” stated Vipul Shah, chief operating officer of petrochemicals division at Reliance Industries.

The firm is processing two billion used bottles to make micro sim for their telecom venture Jio and is planning to scale it up to six billion bottles. The company is now partnering with brands like Raymond, Lee, Arrow, and Wrangler.  The fashion experts are backing reliance for this innovation step taken and they believe that the recycled polymers will see strong demand from international brands, who mainly are looking for sustainable products.

This move by Reliance will enable us to reduce the usage of artificial polyesters and polymers. it will help the firm to gain appreciation all over the globe for its new and innovative move. The firm will be an inspiration to other fashion industries. The quote “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” will be the new success Mantra for the company.
