Trade Talks: India reaches out to Australia Again

Trade Talks: India reaches out to Australia Again

With the current government’s tenure ending the commerce department has decided to make a move. That is by reaching out to the Australian government regarding trade talks. The Indian government is taking this move because New Delhi feels that Australia is a huge trade partner that has a high potential rate in terms of trade. Also, the government seeks to restart the long stuck talks. It is been quite sometime now that the Indian government has considered Australia’s aid. But now with the new proposal, the government of India has officially requested to re-do the trade negotiations for the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement aka CECA.

The major sticking points are the market access for Australian products. Those are the meat, dairy products but apart from Australia’s discomfort regarding the opening of service exports, everything seems fine. The market growth is high here and there has to be a reason why the decision makers at New Delhi feel that Australia and India should start trading. In the past, such decisions have aided the country (India) but have caused loss. All in all, the situations seem good, but let us see how things turn out for Australia and India in the coming days.
