Big Bazaar, one of the biggest hypermarket chains in India, is all set to open 16 more stores in the next three quarters. The retail giant already has its presence in more than 100 cities, and by adding 16 more stores, the tally will reach 300. The move to open new stores is a part of Future Group's recent expansion strategy, and the firm is determined to make its presence felt in the tier-2 cities in India. The firm wants to reach out to people that were impacted less during the ongoing Covid pandemic and has aspirations to attract the upcoming consumption class. Sadashiv Nayak, CEO of Big Bazaar, has stated that the company is all set to reach the 300 stores milestone by the end of the next three quarters.
Future Group is currently operating in 284 stores, and it spans across 100 cities. By adding 13 more stores, the company would now be able to reach all the states. The company did not reveal details regarding the investment because it is already dealing with debts amid the pandemic. While addressing the businesses' recovery following the lockdown, Nayak added that the footfall in stores is increasing now, and the festive season has helped them record good sales.
