The American software company, Red Hat Inc. has announced the availability of its Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM)-powered virtualization platform, i.e. Red Hat Virtualization 4.2.
“Red Hat Virtualization allows our customers to access the economics, performance, and agility they need from their virtualized infrastructure”, says Gunnar Hellekson, Director, Product Management, Linux and Virtualization, Red Hat.
From basic user interference to new capabilities around virtual networking, Red Hat Virtualization 4.2 offers some important product updates that is built on the enterprise-grade backbone of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. It also has a centralized management platform for virtualized Linux and Windows operations. In addition, the new version also provides an alternative option for an open software-defined infrastructure.
Supported by the new pairing capabilities with Red Hat’s enterprise-grade reliability, it is laying a strong foundation for IT innovation.
The new version of Red Hat Virtualization is an integrated offering with its enterprise Linux as a part of Red Hat Virtualization Suite or Cloud suite. Current or existing subscribers can update to the virtualization 4.2 version with the help of Red Hat’s Customer Portal.
“The cost and complexity of today’s IT environment, coupled with the growing number of cloud-native enterprise application environments, continues to be a challenge for many organizations”, said Gary Chen, research manager, Software Defined Compute, IDC.
