Novetex Textiles and H&M has recently introduced ‘Looop’, a sustainable recycling system

Novetex Textiles and H&M has recently introduced ‘Looop’, a sustainable recycling system

H&M, a popular retailer from Sweden, has made an announcement that it will now transform all the unwanted garments into new clothes. This will be achieved by using a new recycling system known as the ‘Looop.’ The new machine is big as a container, and it was unveiled recently in a store based in Stockholm. A non-profit organization called the H&M Foundation is responsible for the creation of Looop. The research partner of the organization was Novetex Textiles, a yarn spinner from Hong Kong. Head of sustainability at H&M, Pascal Brun, stated that the company is constantly scouting for new methods and technology to help the fashion industry transform and be less dependent on virgin resources. The key to achieving this lies in getting the customers on board to go ahead with the change.

Furthermore, it was mentioned that the company is very excited to test the capabilities of the Looop. Old garments that are put inside the Looop will be thoroughly cleaned and shredded into fibers, which will then be converted into a new yarn that can be for knitting new clothes. Virgin materials from a sustainable source will also be added during the process. the system will not use chemicals or water, making it environmentally impactful
