BPCL Kochi Refinery Will Help the Country Reduce Dependence on Imports

Recently, Prime Minister NarendraModi has dedicated an integrated refinery expansion complex of the public sector Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited to the nation. The foundation stone has been laid, and the complex is set to be established at the Kochi Refinery along with a skill development institute at Ettumanoor. A mounded storage vessel with the total storage capacity of 4350 MT too has been inaugurated at the LPG bottling plant of the Indian Oil Corporation.

The integrated refinery reflects the design and functionalities of the new age and modern expansion complex that will potentially transform the Kochi Refinery to match international standards and turn it into the largest PSU refinery in India. Moreover, it is well equipped to manufacture cleaner fuels. The refinery is supposed to double the production of LPG and diesel and begin the production of feedstock to support the petrochemical projects in the plant.

Currently, the storage vessel is contemplated as the most secure and safe vessel that ensures that the highest level of safety measures is taken for the plant and the nearby areas. The storage limit at the plant was improved so that the LPG requisite of about six days packaging limit of the plant is met. Channeling LPG through pipeline will ensure the reduction of the movement of LPG tankers on roads. The BPCL Kochi refinery aims at reducing the country’s dependence of oil imports. The institute at Ettumanoor has an eight acre campus area to offer vocational training and skill to around a thousand youths to enhance employability and entrepreneurship.
