The US seeks to establish a stabilized global energy market. In order to maintain steady oil supply to friends and partners, the US has decided to extend waivers from sanctions on purchases of Iran’s oil. The issue on the end of sanction waivers and its fallout tagged with the alternative energy supplies had come in the talk between the US principal deputy assistant secretary of state and Indian officials. The US is now in touch with the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia in order to take care of the supplies so that friends and partners do not face any trouble. Countries like India, Japan, South Korea and Turkey are the ones the US mentioned.
The major reason to control the waivers or even end it is mainly because the US believes that the oil revenue is contributing to the Iranian proxy groups. By removing waivers the support for these proxy groups is said to stop also in other regions where it is present may also stop. India, for now, is planning on a robust plat to ensure an adequate supply of crude oil to refineries. This will take effect from 2019.
