Indian Oil has introduced FASTag to deliver contactless service at its fuel stations

Due to the rise in Covid cases, ICICI Bank and Indian Oil Corporation have decided to offer contactless and cashless refueling services for their customers through FASTag. Indian Oil is a very notable state-run corporation, and the reach is massive. The new initiative has the potential to start this trend and implement FASTag to deliver services effortlessly. In a joint statement released by both the companies recently, it was mentioned that the users can now receive a fully digitized experience at the oil company’s fuel stations.

In India, more than 34.4 million people use the FASTag services across the country, and this new move was inspired by the recently improved toll collections at NHs. Further more, in the statement, it was mentioned that customers who are willing to use this service must inform the person in charge of refueling about the payment mode. The customers will receive an OTP, which will be entered into the POS machine to complete the transaction. The latest addition will make sure to eliminate the need for intervention during the refueling process, and it will soon be available in every Indian Oil retail outlet. However, the country’s fuel prices are still rising steadily, and petrol price has crossed the Rs 100 mark in several regions.
