Fiber-optic communication is an effective method to transmit information from one place to another and this is done by sending pulse of light via optical fiber. In Rural India there are less number of fiber deployment specialist, Common Services Centers (CSC) Academy and Sterlite Technologies have signed an agreement to train Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) in order to create specialists. There is a strong requirement for a steady optical fibre backbone to transmit large amount of data and to meet these demands the Indian telecom sector needs skilled workforce that can easily manage end-to-end optical fibre network. The STL Academy is embarked on a mission to create an ecosystem of highly skilled professionals to maintain and deploy highly complex optical fibre networks.
Under the signed MoU, STL Academy will conduct certified programs for the VLEs who are registered with CSC and the program is expected to train 1, 00,000 VLEs in the gram panchayats. BharatNet Phase 2 is in advanced stage of completion and this will lead to 1.25 lakh gram panchayat to be connected to the internet. Many companies are eyeing for the business opportunity and they are also running awareness campaigns in these places. Sterlite Technologies is expected to launch a digital kiosk called STL Garv to give access to multiple infrastructures for rural communities.
