Similar to the Google Wi-Fi app, xFi uses simple visuals to walk you through setting up your router

Setting up a Wi-Fi isn’t as painful as before. With the Comcast xFi app which is initially made for the Xfinity customers, the whole process of connecting and configuring the Wi-Fi network has become easier.  The use of smartphones for easy managing of Wi-Fi is a common method right now, but cannot be considered as that successful.

What we need in order to use the xFi app is the internet ‘gateway’ boxes which serve as a cable modem and a wireless router.  Just as every other app being used for the same, it has got visuals as well that can assist in the whole process of setting up. After the initial procedures of setting up, the network name and password is given which can be used for any changes later.

Isn’t it all the other apps do as well? What makes it quite different and handy then? The one advantage that can be pointed out is the ‘profile’ system. This can be good news for the parents, but may not be that good for the kids as it assigns a particular profile for each family member.  With this technology we can manage the devices, as in which are given to a particular profile. This implies that the connection to a particular section can even be withdrawn if needed, which again is not kind of interesting news to the kids around the globe.

With its partnership with Plume, Comcast is trying to bring an effective change that in fact could change the whole scenario of Wi-Fi’s and networking.
