For the past three years, the Raspberry Pi Foundation has been releasing new products around its birthday (28th February). But this time, the foundation has rolled out its all-new Raspberry Pi model on Pi Day (14th March).

The successor to the 2016’s Raspberry Pi Model, the brand new Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ might have a confusing name, but it’s a clear upgrade with improvements on the device in a number of ways. And it’ll cost a little more than the older version; The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ is available for $35.

The key upgrades on the new model are its processor and networking capabilities. It is built on the 1.4GHz quad-core BCM2837B0 64-bit Broadcom processor. It has an updated version of the chip used in the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B. Furthermore, for projects requiring faster networking speeds, the 3B+ delivers dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless connectivity and Gigabit Ethernet over USB 2.0 that supports up to 300Mbps, which is 3X the speed of previous boards. The Bluetooth 4.2 and Bluetooth Low Energy support make the board easier for tinkerers looking to create their own IoT hubs in their smart home.

And one more important thing to note with the all-new Raspberry Pi is that users are strongly advised to use a high-quality 2.5A power supply. In simple words, just don’t buy any cheap adapter because the Pi 3B+ needs substantially more power than its predecessor.
