Extreme networks connects beyond the network with the acquisition of Brocade’s data center networking business

Extreme network is re-defining networks with software and helping its customers to build better connections. The latest updates on the company states that it has completed its acquisition of Brocade Communications Systems, Inc.’s data center switching, routing and analytics business. This acquisition is expected to acquire information on customer relationships, personnel and technology assets from Brocade including the SLX, VDX, MLX, CES, CER, Workflow Composer, Automation Suites, and certain other data center related products. This can further aid in improving the data center solutions offered by the company which are used by the enterprises and service providers across various industries including health, education, retail and even transportation.

The interesting thing about the acquisition is that the completion of the deal comes less than 30 days after Extreme Networks announced that it was planning to acquire the Brocade assets directly from Brocade. "This is an exciting day for Extreme as we have now significantly strengthened our position in the expanding high-end data center market with the industry leading solution for enterprise customers," said Ed Meyer cord, President and CEO of Extreme Networks. Through a series of synergistic acquisitions, Extreme is now a top player in the enterprise networking industry and expects to generate over $1 billion in annual revenues.
