Surface Phone: The Talk of the Town

Surface Phone: The Talk of the Town

Rumours have been doing the rounds since a long time regarding the Microsoft Surface Phone – with their registration of domains like surfacephone.com and comments from Microsoft executives.

Microsoft has recently been granted a patent for “a force sensitive device” which talks in length about pressure-sensitive touchscreen displays and precision stylus support for touchscreens in their devices.

Despite rumours about the technology being implemented in “Surface Phones”, Microsoft admits that the technology can make its way in any other product.

In the patent which was granted earlier this month, it stated: “Although the present embodiments are described and illustrated herein as being implemented in a smartphone, the device described is provided as an example and not a limitation.

As those skilled in the art will appreciate, the present embodiments are suitable for application in a variety of different types of mobile and/or hand-held apparatuses, e.g. in tablets, smart watches, laptops or gaming consoles. Force sensing may be used in various applications and apparatuses with a display. The display may be a peripheral connected to a system, wherein at least a portion of the user interface is configured to the display. In one embodiment the display is arranged inside a car, wherein the driver or passenger may operate the display with force sensing feature. “

Be it Surface Phones or Surface Pro, Surface Book, Surface Laptop and Surface Studio; Microsoft’s exquisite devices are always a delight by themselves.
