Microsoft's security platform that was formerly known as the Microsoft Threat Protection was recently renamed with new capabilities. The announcement came from the Ignite event, and the new name is Azure Defender and Microsoft 365 under the same bracket. The new Microsoft threat protection, now known as Microsoft 365 defender, aims to provide the end-user environment solution and consists of a response (XDR) and extended detection solution. The new solution will protect macOS, iOS mobile, Windows, and Android devices from threats. The newly renamed solution is now in public preview, and it allows security teams to use priority account tagging protection for the visible and most targeted people in a company.
The application guard of Windows will now open the documents in a virtual container that is secure as a separate copy of the kernel. In the new solution, if a user wants to start working on a document in real-time, the safe document will check for all the known threats and risks in the profile before granting permission to open. To scan the Excel 4.0 macros, Microsoft 365 has now added a new integration with the Windows platform Antimalware Scan Interface (AMSI). This will help the organization to overcome defeat obfuscation and evade attacks.
