To provide a smart building blueprint, Microsoft has created a digital twin of its regional headquarters at Frasers Tower in Singapore. The blueprint was completed with collaboration from Bentley Systems and Schneider Electric. About 179 Bluetooth beacons in meeting rooms, as well as 900 sensors for lighting, air quality and temperature delivered by Schneider Electric, are used to accumulate data.
A total of 2100 data points is generated and are connected to the cloud via Microsoft Azure. Microsoft’s Smart Building CampusLink app which was previously used mainly for its integration with Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office 365 is now used by employees as it reflects room bookings with the help of activity detection enabled lighting and room sensors. The data points are used to optimize space utilization, air conditioning, and increasing overall energy efficiency. As more and more companies are shifting towards the practices of sustainability and environment, the company is building the workplace of the future. The usage of space is adjusted based on the inputs from the sensors, thereby improving energy efficiency. Outside of Microsoft’s office in Redmond, Washington the Smart Building CampusLink app sees its first usage in the company’s Asia Pacific headquarters. The app is built on Azure App Services and powered by Azure Data Lake and Office 375 Graph API.
