LinkedIn which is currently owned and run by Microsoft has given Mahesh Narayanan the responsibility as the Country Manager of India. After Akshay Kothari (the previous Country Manager) put down his papers and quit in September to go back to the United States, LinkedIn did look for the right person to take his place. Surely as everyone knows, the user count is more than 590 million (worldwide) and is still growing. In India alone, the count is about 53 million. So, for now, Narayanan will officially take this responsibility on January 7, 2019, and will be reporting to Oliver Legrand who is the Managing Director of LinkedIn’s Asia Pacific (APAC) region. It was also mentioned that he will be part of the senior management team as well.
Previously Narayanan was part of the music streaming service called Saavn. He was the Managing director there and not only did he serve there but he has also led Google’s India Mobile business from 2010-2013. Further, he spearheaded digital transformation and market entry of several digital businesses that include Sociomantic Labs, AdMob and more.
"India continues to be a strategic market for LinkedIn, and we are pleased to have Mahesh join our team to take our business to its next growth chapter. As we continue to invest in the market, Mahesh's strong track record in leading growth businesses and his deep market experience will bolster our efforts in India” says Legrand.
