South Korean boy band BTS, whose catchy, popular songs have won them legions of fans, has announced they will be taking a break. The group announced that they would be pursuing solo projects. Jimin, a band member, said the group was going through a "rough patch." During the time off, they are hoping to find their true identities. Their conversation was uploaded on their official YouTube channel. Hybe, the entertainment company managing BTS, clarified that this is not a hiatus and that they are just taking time to explore solo projects and would remain active in different formats. The Grammy-nominated group comprises RM, Jungkook, Jin, Jimin, Suga, J-Hope, and V.

The announcement was made during their streamed annual "FESTA" dinner, which is a celebration that marks their anniversary as a group. The group members have been together for nine years and are credited with generating billions of dollars for the South Korean Economy. Through their songs and fashion, BTS members have given a voice to a generation comfortable with gender diversity. K-Pop is considered an all-encompassing genre exhibiting musical and visual elements. It has played a significant role in elevating South Korea and its culture onto the world stage.
