US-based multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate The Walt Disney Co and Bangalore-based online learning platform Byju’s are all set to launch a co-branded learning app targeted at kindergarten to Class three students, The Economic Times reported.
The app, Early Learn, is likely to go live sometime next week. Early Learn will boast of characters from Popular Disney brands such as Frozen, Cars, and Toy Story, the newspaper reported. It’s also learnt that the US conglomerate has made a financial investment in Byju’s.
The collaboration bats for Byju’s as it aspires to expand beyond India into other large English-speaking markets such as Australia, UK, and the US.
The online learning platform, as mentioned above, has entered into a revenue sharing agreement with Disney, but the exact terms of the deal could not be determined.
The US conglomerate is well-known for partnering with car manufacturers, clothing brands, consumer electronics makers, and others for brand partnerships in the run-up to the launch of a blockbuster film. But the collaboration with Byju’s is a long-term engagement.
According to the report, both Byju’s and Disney India were contacted but declined to comment on the partnership.
