Microchip Technology, an American company, has established an R&D centre in Chennai, ET reported. The one lakh square feet sized facility will accommodate 1200 employees.
The company has had a presence in Chennai for six years back. The new centre will carry out operations such as software development, IC design, computer-aided design, applications, and physical designs.
According to Microchip Technology, other than the above-citied operations, the centre will also develop the local ecosystem specialized for carrying out work such as embedded systems development and integrated circuit design.
If we look at the last ten years, the company’s number of employees has increased to 1800, followed by setting up development centres in the IT hub, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Currently, the company’s customer base stands at 1,500. The company said that its rapid investments in India will make them an important company in the Indian semiconductor space.
ET reports said that the new move by Microchip reflects their commitment towards developing and designing differentiated embedded solutions to cater its customers. India’s workforce of good engineers will have an ample amount of opportunities to showcase because of the company’s continued investment in the country. It will also help Microchip to serve the growing Indian customer base.
Headquartered in Arizona, Microsoft Technology is NASDAQ listed company. The company specializes in manufacturing integrated circuits. As of now, the company has 125,000 customers across the world in the fieldsof defence, aerospace, automotive, consumer, computer markets, and communications.
