New reports by GSMA, a Global telecom industry body, suggest that India’s mobile subscribers will touch the 920 million mark by 2025; including 88 million 5G connections. The GSM intelligence reports suggest that due to the 5G connectivity growth, India will trail with China, which is ready to witness 30 percent of its total connection base on 5G by 2025.
The reports also suggest that India alone will produce the world’s quarter of the brand new mobile subscribers over this period.
GSMA reports said that the 4G network-based data consumption pattern in India supports in time uptake of new 5G devices and services.
But, the country is yet to make its 5G debut and it will depend on the telecom operators on how much money they can invest in the development. The 5G connectivity network requires regulatory approvals and support on the policy.
GSMA reports also suggest that the revenue growth in the Indian mobile market will increase in the second half of this year; and will grow at a decent pace till 2025. But, the market revenue will still be low, leading to a slow and challenging market repair process.
The recent survey of global mobile data pricing revealed that India ranked among over 200 countries as the cheapest market surveyed in the fourth quarter of 2018. According to the reports, India will become the second largest sanctuary for smartphones by 2025 with 1 billion installed devices.
