Covaxin will be given to kids aged between 15-18 years in India
Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, on December 25, 2021, in a press meet, had announced that the country would have a new vaccination programme which will include children aged between 15-18 years, meaning people born before 2007 will be eligible to get their COVID-19 shot. According to the announcement, the vaccination programme will officially kick start today, i.e., January 3, 2022.
As per the guidelines issued by the Union Health Ministry, Bharat Biotech manufactured Covaxin will be given to kids aged between 15-18 years. Additional doses of Covaxin will be administered to all the union territories and stated. The Health Ministry has said that the required protocols regarding the vaccination will be strictly followed.
According to the recent reports and data issued on the CoWin platform, more than 3.5 lakh children in India aged between 15-18 years have successfully registered for their first dose of COVID-19 shot. The health ministry has also said that the eligible population can register themselves on the CoWin app or have a walk-in registration option starting from today, i.e., January 3.
