Google rebranding its news feed for mobile users

Google rebranding its news feed for mobile users

As Google recently turned 20, the company announced many updates to its search engine in the joyous celebration of its birth. The biggest announcement made by Google is the addition of a news feed to its homepage on mobile. When the android phone users will swipe left from the home screen, a list of items will appear as “Discover”.  It is going to be available on all mobile browsers. It is a huge leap in search improvements as the Discover section will better organize information and help users to understand the contexts of information.

Discover will effectively show relevant content and it will have topic links to know more in-depth about the content that is seen in the feed. The personalized feed will prioritize entertainment and other information based on users’ interests. The multi-language support will include both English and Spanish items in the feed.

Google is adding more visual content to search. This new format called “Stories” is based on its AMP standards. Google Images is also getting a new look and feel. The company has come up with a new ranking algorithm for image search. Moreover, it will showcase more “web content” inside the search including specific page information. Google Stories is included in the image search.

All these updates promote interactive homepage feed; something that Google always dreamt of!
