Google: New AI Technology to Tackle Online Child Sexual Abuse

Google has made an announcement on Monday that it will take the help of a new AI technology to fight online child sexual abuse contents. The main aim of the tech giant is to prevent the spread of child sexual abuse through the web.

According to Google, the Internet is becoming an open platform for spreading contents that sexually exploit children. The company’s new AI will run on neutral networks for image processing to find out and recognize child sexual abuse material online.

NGOs and technology companies can use the new deep neutral networks tool for free. The tool can be used via a newContent Safety API service that could be offered upon request. The tool can detect child sexual abuse materials and reduce human reviewer’s exposure to the content. It will be able to identify new images of children who are being sexually abused and protect them from being abused in the future.

Nowadays, many tech companies are seeking to AI to detect various kinds of child sexual abuse contents like nudity and abusive comments, and Google’s move towards fighting online child sexual abuse contents by sharing the latest technological advancements has paved a way for others to do so.

There are many organizations like the UK- based charity- Internet Watch Foundation, the tech coalition and the WeProtect International Alliance, and other NGO organizations that have been involved with Google to tackle online child sexual abuse.
