In a move to expand the capabilities of its cloud platform, Google, Inc acquires a California-based big data startup Cask Data that builds solutions for big data analytics based on Hadoop. The announcement was made less than a week after Google’s acquisition of an Israel-based IT company called Velostrata.
While the Cask Data news was blazed upon the public last week by its co-founders Jonathan Gray and Nitin Motgi via a blog post.
“We will continue to develop and release open source Cask Data Application Platform (CDAP) that makes building and running big data solutions easy for enterprise customers,” stated by both the co-founders.
Google is striving hard to develop deeper enterprise solutions for its cloud platform. In terms of enterprise data usage and revenue, the company is still trailing behind other Tech giant’s cloud enterprises like Amazon’s AWS and Microsoft’s Azure.
“We are thrilled to welcome the talented Cask team to Google Cloud, and are excited to work together to help make developers more productive with our data processing services both in the cloud and on-premise,” said William Vambenepe, group product manager for Google Cloud.
