MTG Acquires India’s PlaySimple

The Swedish gaming giant MTG has announced that it is acquiring India’s PlaySimple for $360 million. MTG has been on an acquisition-spree since 2020. Its latest acquisitions have been Hutch, Ninja Kiwi and now PlaySimple.

PlaySimple was established in 2014 by brothers Siddharth Jain and Siddhanth Jain along with other co-founders Preeti Reddy, and Suraj Nalin. The company focuses on mobile games across the genres of puzzle, trivia, and word. The company is headquartered at Bengaluru and has over 200 employees on its payroll.

With over 75 million installs and 1.9 million DAU across PlaySimple’s titles, the company has been one of the fastest and most promising mobile gaming companies from India. The company also has a world-class advertising infrastructure and provides opportunities for improved monetization.

“We’re delighted to join the MTG family – MTG’s approach to investments offers us creative freedom, and the opportunities created by the GamingCo really resonate with our team. We’re excited to have found a new home for our company, one where our team can learn and grow alongside our fellow companies,” said PlaySimple’s co-founder and CEO Siddharth Jain.

The acquisition of PlaySimple will help MTG create a diversified gaming portfolio. The acquisition will also help the company accelerate the operational performance and create a more stable business.
