A recent study from InMobi has shown that 60 percent of users in 45-65 age demographics have taken up mobile gaming

Gaming is continuing to gain immense traction in recent times, mainly among the age group of 18-24. However, InMobi reported that more than 60 percent of users in 45-65 age demographics have also taken up mobile gaming. In the report, it was furthermore mentioned that more than 45 percent of the mobile gamers in India had started playing games only during the pandemic-induced lockdown. InMobi collected data signals from more than 200 million mobile users to understand the advertiser’s insights, gaming behavior, and gaming personas.

Globally, India stands at 5th position in the gaming market. This is mainly due to various facts like smartphones have become more affordable, and the data tariffs are one of the cheapest in the world. MD for Asia-Pacific InMobi, Vasuta Agarwal, has stated that mobile gaming in India was democratized mainly due to smartphone penetration. He furthermore added that last year the gaming segment witnessed a huge spike in India, and the country was one of the fastest-growing in the world. Data from InMobi’s platform has shown that Gen Z gamers prefer arcade and casual games, whereas Gen X and millennials are preferring board games and action games.
