Hindustan Talkies, a popular movie and digital content production house, and Hungama, a well-known digital entertainment company, have made a strategic investment of $500,000 in the Indian Gaming League (IGL). IGL was launched in 2016, and the company is expected to utilize the investment to expand its user base and added new features to increase the platform’s engagement. Founder and CEO of Hungama Digital Media, Neeraj Roy, has stated that the company is looking forward to investing in IGL to expand the reach of the platform and offer Indian Gamers an extremely unique competitive experience.

He furthermore added that his company’s target is to engage with more than 10 million gamers in two years as a part of their esports effort. The investment will also be used to conduct a new tournament called Indian Gaming League Championship Cup S1. This event will be a 45 days tournament where users can compete with six different gamers for prizes. The tournament has an award ceremony by IGL to recognize the competition’s winners. Director of Hindustan Talkies, Ashish Chowdhry, has stated that the gaming industry is gaining immense traction in recent times, and with India being a country with the largest youth population, the industry is growing even faster.
