Indian Government to increase the production of Neem-coated Urea

Indian Government to increase the production of Neem-coated Urea

The government of India is all set to increase the production of Neem-coated Urea and has asked the farmers to give more preference to this product and use it at a higher rate. The government is taking different initiatives to promote production and use the product in a big way. The Indian government is strictly asking farmers to use Neem-coated urea as it not only reduces the risk of pollution, will also help in nitrogen fixation and increases soil efficiency and fertility. The water consumption will also be reduced, and the yield produced is high.

Earlier, the fertilizer firms were allowed to produce only 35% of Neem-coated urea but now, the production rate is increased to 70%. "Accordingly, 70 percent of total supply of indigenously produced urea has been of Neem coated urea in May. It is expected that 100 percent of total supply of indigenously produced urea will also be Neem-coated in the forthcoming months," stated the Agriculture Ministry.

The ministry of agriculture is trying to improve the production rate of the product through them-Kisan portal and by establishing new centers for production of Neem-coated urea.” Nutrient use efficiency of neem-coated urea is about 5 -10 percent higher than that of plain Urea and, therefore, its use will economize the quantity of urea required by crops," stated Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister of Agriculture and Farmer’s welfare.
