On the occasion on international women’s day, Dineout held an event called Gourmet Passport in order to celebrate all those strong independent women of India who have risen and established themselves in the country’s food and beverage industry. Megha Kohli (Lavaash by Saby), Chef Nandita Karan, Chef Bani Nanda, Chef Vanishka Bhatia (Together at 12th), and Palki Singh were some of those famous renown names who had features as panellists and spoke about their experiences at the event. This event was Dineout’s conclusion of a nearly month long campaign for women.
“In the past year, I have seen a change. There are so many mails I get from girls curious to work in the industry. Out of the team of 13, there are more than five female chefs. Though there’s no screaming in my kitchen,” Chef Vanshika Bhatia said in regard to her opinion of female chefs in the industry.
In a field that is dominated by men, it often becomes hard for females to rise up and establish themselves. But as time passes, it is been seen that more and more women are breaking barriers.
