Perks of using contemporary enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions are very clear and if the implementation is done right then the users can even have minute information about the resources and business processes. A great ERP implementation requires hard work and time because it is more of a people project. When the project is implemented it is important to have all the staff involved for an opportunity. When the subject matter experts are roped into the workstreams it is easy to break activities into small processes and focus on parts of the project. These groupings will cut across the regular working teams and form a great channel for staff to share their insights, practically contribute to the project, and collaborate.
The whole leadership team must guide and sponsor throughout the process. The CEO needs to establish his presence in the organization, demonstrate commitment, and validate the need for a new project. Developing a system from staff feedback alone will not make the project failsafe. Pilot testing must be done to eliminate minor bugs in the system and the adjustments are inevitable. For the whole duration of the project, a high-quality communication stream must be set up by implementing new communication strategies.
