Facebook Messenger acquired its digital assistant 'M'

Ramping up the social network's labors in artificial intelligence, Social networking giant Facebook has come up with digital assistant named "M" for US users of its Messenger application.  For users of the messaging platform, the M will pop up and suggest "helpful actions" in the chat window.

The fresh move by the social networking giant is said to be a first step in a broader commence of the digital supporter to contend against services from Google, Amazon,  Microsoft, Apple  and  Samsung, which is launching its new assistant with its latest smartphone.

Facebook product managers Laurent Landowski and Kemal El Moujahid In a blog post, said, M uses artificial intelligence and "suggests relevant actions to help manage conversations or help get things done. We are bringing the power of M's AI technology to support and enhance the Messenger experience and make it more useful, personal and seamless."

With this all new addition M, Facebook Messenger will be able to make simpler the tasks such as sending money to friends, sharing location or obtaining a ride-share. Facebook, with its own artificial intelligence research lab, announced M in 2015 as an experiment, and the development related to it is considered as another stride in the social network's broader AI goals.

Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder has spoken about - and shaped for his own home - a personal digital assistant named Jarvis to help him handle his household tasks and play with his family.

Similarly, the Electronic giant Samsung has launched its assistant Bixby with its Galaxy S8 smartphones to aid the South Korean massive smash into a rolling market for voice-activated virtual assistants, which includes Apple's Siri, Amazon's Alexa, Google's Assistant and Microsoft's Cortana.
