Thaicom Inks a Deal with AWS to Transform its Digital Content Delivery

The agreement will allow Thaicom to leverage AWS's global cloud infrastructure, advanced video technologies, and pay-as-you-go-model

Thaicom has announced that it has signed an agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to transform how the company delivers its digital content. The agreement will allow Thaicom to leverage AWS's global cloud infrastructure, advanced video technologies, and pay-as-you-go-model.

This partnership with AWS will help Thaicom produce high-quality video streams for distribution to its national and worldwide customers.

"This agreement marks the beginning of a successful, long-term collaboration between Thaicom and AWS. I am confident that advancing our satellite TV broadcast platform using the world's leading cloud will deliver innovative broadcast solutions and provide our customers with end-to-end solutions built on AWS," said Patompob (Nile) Suwansiri, Thaicom's Chief Executive Officer. "Beyond the satellite business, Thaicom sees opportunities in driving the emerging space sector with the cloud. AWS helps us develop an earth observation data analytics platform and bring innovations to strengthen our position as a leader in satellite and space technology in the digital era."

Thaicom and AWS are going to work together to build and deploy former's first cloud-based satellite TV broadcast distribution platform for Asia Pacific. This platform will include cloud services that can provide software-defined encoding, transcoding, and statistical multiplexing capabilities leveraging AWS Elemental media services. Under the agreement, Thaicom will also use AWS to establish its earth observation data analytics platform and support Thaicom's new space economy initiative.
