Cisco makes bold moves in Bangladesh

By doubling its office space along with the headcount, the American Tech Giant Cisco Systems is pushing Bangladesh towards becoming a digital economy. The Company had also opened a depot for spare parts and is continuously widening its footprint in Bangladesh.

Managing director for sales for India and the Saarc, Sudhir Nayar pointed out that the government and the private sector of Bangladesh are already making it a very digital economy and that Cisco will be at the forefront to become a digital partner of choice. Cisco is one of the first global IT companies to make investments in Bangladesh and has been present for over 20 years now. With the help of over 100 partners, the company now has more than 1,000 customers in Bangladesh. The firm is expecting the numbers to multiply as the country goes through the transformation of becoming a digital economy. Along with 88 percent of banks that run their core IT network and infrastructure on Cisco systems, the government’s national data center is also powered by Cisco.

Bangladesh has the fifth largest internet user base in the world and also the ninth-largest mobile penetration in the world. More than 80 percent of the Internet in the country is powered by Cisco products.
