Stripe has announced that it will now support two important forms of payments in Japan: Furikomi and Konbini. This will happen with a single integration and all businesses can use Stripe's platform to accept Furikomi and Konbini payments.
Furikomi is a popular bank transfer method that lets businesses securely transfer funds directly from their bank accounts, and Konbini is a convenience store payment option. Furikomi is the most widely used payment method for B2B transactions in Japan, with ten times the volume of B2C transactions. Ninety-six percent of B2B transactions are done through bank transfers, worth almost $3 trillion annually. This launch of the payment methods from Stripe is part its growth plans in Japan.
“Stripe is providing technology solutions that help Japanese businesses digitally transform and save days of work each year,” said Daisuke Aranami, country lead for Stripe Japan. “By enabling bank transfers in Japan, Stripe has become the only fully unified SaaS solution that consolidates payments, billing, invoicing, and revenue management tools into one complete platform that also integrates with a business’s CRM, ERP, and other third-party systems.”
Stripe has announced that it will support Konbini payments at more than 34,000 outlets across Japan. This will enable consumers to make payments through cash for online purchases at their local convenience stores.
