Ola Cabs Rolls Out Real-Time Ride Monitoring System

Ola Cabs Rolls Out Real-Time Ride Monitoring System

Ola Cabs, the Indian cab service company introduces a real-time ride monitoring system for its cars. According to the company, the new system has been chipped into the cars in order to make passenger’s safety better and effective.

Dubbed as Ola Guardian, AI (Artificial Intelligence) and ML (Machine Learning) based tools have been used to develop the system. The real-time monitoring system has already been launched as a pilot in three cities, i.e. Pune, Bangalore, and Mumbai. By the end of October, the system will go live in Kolkata and New Delhi and by the year-end, it will be live in the rest of the cities in India.

Once the passenger is inside the cab, his/her trip will be tracked through AI-driven systems, which will pin down and analyze route deviations, if the driver changes directions unexpectedly or stops midway among others.

The safety response team of Ola will take immediate action if there is any problem based on the time of travel and other ride indicators. The team will analyze the data and connect the customer to asses any potential unsafe ride and provide assistance as required.

The crime among the cab drivers in India has been on the rise in the recent times. So, different state governments are helping Ola to locate unsafe routes into the monitoring platform.

According to Ankur Agarwal, VP of Ola Cabs, the new project Guardian will help to leverage technology in order to enhance the overall safety of rides across the transportation industry.
